Journal - Creative cOw

More writing from the women's workshop. I chose to keep the words:
  • passionate
  • music
  • day dreaming
  • heroes
  • care
  • mom

This is more on the guitar theme and being happy about living in Texas on a summer morning.

I remember JB was bopping around me on the morning I was painting this and I asked him to give me a word. The word was cow.

We had recently discussed how after I got married my initials were C.W.O. using my maiden name. And then if you put the O in the middle with the first and maiden initials on the side then you have c O w. I chose to use my middle name initial after that little discovery but the boys and I giggled about it.

So there you have it- I'm Creative cOw.

Though, I will not be signing my artwork with Creative cOw, thank you very much!

Stretch your creativity today by going to House of Shine and committing to send a brief note of appreciation to todays Yellow Envelope Project nominee. You'll be glad you did.

Updated on March 2, 2011 with better photo. I'm still not sure the lighting is correct but it's much closer on the top photo.

Flying Hearts - Big Love

Updated March 2, 2011. You can't see as much of the gold. It's not so dark as the original photo suggests.

I know I don't have to apologize for this being a horrible digital photo of a so-so-maybe-not-finished piece but what's a working girl/single mom going to do? I didn't get it done but don't feel right about not making a post. I made a commitment after all.

I'll replace the image when I'm able to get a better one out in the sun.

Maybe I'll leave and update any progressions.

Music Monday - Rock & Roll Heart

Today's song just makes me feel good! Every time I hear it. I don't know what a 57 Chevy is but I'm sure I would like it! Okay- I probably wouldn't give it another thought if I saw one. In a picture or in person.

This past Saturday I posted a page from my journal and you can see a few words of the lyrics on one of the pages. This is what I mean when I say I include song lyrics.

If you need a pick me up, this it:

Journal - Texas, I'm Yours

I attended a women's retreat while living in Park City, Utah. It was in June of 2001. Drew was born in October of 2000 and I was pregnant again due in November. I was struggling in my marriage, trying to settle into being a mom, and trying to discover myself and where my art fit into my life.

The black parts at the top right are covering up notes I had taken at that retreat. They weren't important to remember. I was playing with the guitar series idea. While I was painting, I had my iPod playing. Eric Clapton's Rock & Roll Heart and Jason Mraz's I'm Yours were two songs that played that morning.

Utah is a great place to visit and I'm glad that I had a chance to live that adventure but Texas, I'm Yours!

And, House of Shine- I'm yours, too! Check out House of Shine today to see who was nominated for the Yellow Envelope Project. All it takes is 10 minutes and 44 cents. You'll make a difference today.

Heart - Scott's Heart

A friend had a very cool, very modern apartment where he broke a large mirror and then glued the mirror on to one of the walls of the apartment. Some of the pieces were glued together. I was always fascinated with the wall and with the shape that is in this drawing. I always saw it as flowers but Scott saw it as a heart.
Not sure on the size of this one. It's tucked away somewhere but I'm not pulling it out to measure. Can you say "lazy"? It's probably close to 24 x 36 or 24 x 48. I do know it was drawn with color pencils.
Hopefully next week I will be back on track with On the Fence but I can't guarantee it.

Flying Hearts - Sweet Family

12 x 12 acrylic
Not sure if this one is finished. Don't be surprised if you see it again in the future. The figures at the bottem are based on me and my boys. Aw. These balloon hearts were painted at the Robert Burridge workshop.

Photo: Was It A Sign?

I was floating in my pool enjoying a Poolside Palmer listening to my iPod last July. And as I watched the clouds this heart peeked through. I thought it was a sign.

Journal - Water

There is no body of water that I don't love. Whether it's my pool, the river, a lake, or a beach. There is something wonderful about being near the water on a beautiful day.

Don't you agree?

And here's something else you can love- the Yellow Envelope Project at House of Shine.

Music Monday - The Way You Look Tonight

It's February and that means Valentine's Day. So, how about a love song?

I fell in love with song watching Julia Roberts and Durmot Mulroney (sigh, he is so handsome) in My Best Friends Wedding. I prefer the recorded version over the live version attached here but it's a sweet song.

Take a peek.

Journal - ce

Bleh! Still reflecting on my life on this page, talking about how I could entertain myself for hours as a child. I had big dreams but was always too afraid to pursue any of them. At the end I'm trying to convince myself to believe in, well- myself.

I wonder how that's working out?

It's never too late to be who you might have been and one day I will be a painter.

And, it's never too late for you to join House of Shine spread more shine by taking 10 minutes out of your day to write a brief note to today's Yellow Envelope Project nominee.

On the Fence - The Grass is Greener

Oh dear. One month in and I already do not have enough paintings for the On the Fence series. Oh well. I'm not going to stress over it. I may change gears on you by the looks of the paintings laying on my floor in the living room. If it was warmer I would paint, but it is too darn cold!

The painting below does not look like the painting below:
It now looks like this:
Left side detail:

Right side detail:
Grass detail:
And who knows what it will look like in another month. I want to varnish and live with it a while longer and see where it goes.
Each piece is 12 x 12, acrylic with collage.
