Music Monday - Constellations

I had a pretty healthy crush on Jack Johnson.

Okay- I still do have a healthy crush on Jack Johnson.

I went to a Jack Johnson concert by myself when I lived in Park City, Utah and I loved every minute of the experience.

Journal - Not Waiting on a Sign

Another ink dragon fly. Nothing extraordinary about this page. I added a guitar.

The "Not waiting on a sign" was me being tacky which I noted in the wings of the dragonfly. There's no need to go into that story- I don't need any bad karma- so, let's just play on.

And here's where you can go. Go play at House of Shine where every week we feature a new nominee for the Yellow Envelope Project.

Guitars - Tiffany

6' x 9" acrylic
I know it's not Guitar Thursday but I didn't get home until late due to traffic and soccer practice so I opted to shift this one up. It's my blog so, hip-hip-hooray! I can.
Happy Wednesday

Music Monday - Calling You

I discovered Blue October by listening to Kidd Kraddick in the Morning. Blue October performed this song and the radio and the live version is to die for. And unfortunately, unavailable. But the recorded version of Calling You is good.

You can never stop someone from loving you. What? You can't.

And we can't pick who we dream about either.

Journal - No Splash Zone

While I was working on the Love is Crazy page, I realized how perfect it would be to take my lawn chair and my watercolor pencils on our Wimberley Family Reunion. The river ran low enough that my journal would sit out of the water. And, I could just use the river water as my water to paint.

I bought a tackle box to put my brushes, pencils and sharperner in. I found a waterproof bag for my journal and of course, I brought my floating cooler full of beer. It was perfect.

The dragon fly was drawn while still in Utah. I had been to a very nice open house in Glenwild Golf Community that had some very cool dragon fly painting in the home. They were pretty flat with just the ink so I just painted over them.

My niece, Mckenna, suggested a lady bug and my cousin, 5 year old Konner reminded me that it was a No Splash Zone near my chair.

Here's where you can make a splash though- join me at House of Shine and the Yellow Envelope Project.

Flying Heart - Follow Your Heart

Follow Your Heart
It Knows the Way

16 x 20" Acrylic on Canvas

On Sunday, March 5, 2011 I went to Painting with the Twist with my friend, Karlie for a fundraiser for her organization 30Walk. They were painting a lily but I opted to paint one of my flying hearts. It was fun to see how the teacher taught everyone to paint. And it was for a great cause.

The story of 30Walk is a powerful one and my friend Karlie is so sweet and generous. Take a moment on check it out.

Journal - Love is Crazy

The writing on this page was reflecting on being a mom. I have two very sweet boys. And being a mom is both rewarding and challenging. The challenging part isn't talked about with non-moms. It's some big secret we keep from the non-moms lest they decide not to give birth from hearing our horror stories.

And indeed, love is crazy. I remember sitting in the cloud lamp blue night light holding Drew as a baby while tears streamed down my face and I was thinking that this heartbreaking feeling was indeed an overwhelming love that would break my heart on a daily basis. The boys were with their dad this morning and I was missing them.

I was missing a lot of other people as well. My friends in Utah, my family in south Texas, my girlfriends that I grew up with and I was missing Keith though I had just seen him the night before.

And, I'm pretty sure iPod was playing Roger Creager's song Love is Crazy that I featured on Monday.

Don't miss out on this weeks Yellow Envelope Project! Just click over to House of Shine.

On the Horizon- That's Amore

The On the Fence series has morphed into On the Horizon series. This 12 x 12 acrylic piece was completely different last Friday. It just needs some varnish to make it pop. Another one of my favorites.

Flying Hearts - amor vincit omnia

This 12 x 12 piece was a work in progress last week. Just needs a touch up on left side where the collaged strip was devoured by paint and then some varnish. This is one of my favorites.

I hate when I can't find a link in youtube to post a video to play a song for you but here I am. This is not the best audio so go to iTunes and buy Love is Crazy. It will have you tapping your toes and smiling in no time!

This is a fun love song. And, yes love is indeed crazy- it will make you laugh and make you cry.

Journal - 7 17

Why the numbers 7 and 17? The morning I was painting was July 17th. Not two of my favorite pages but hey, you need to have some bad to appreciate the good.

We can offset the bad by doing something good. Like, going over to House of Shine and checking out todays Yellow Envelope Project nominee. It only takes 10 minutes and 44 cents to SHINE.

I know it has a big heart on it but be patient with me. It's going to be an On The Fence piece.
