Flying Heart - Deep Peace

Acrylic & Collage on paper.
Size:

The collage portion reads:
Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the infinite peace to you.

Deep peace of the running waves to you,
Deep peace of the flowing air to you,
Deep peace of the smiling stars to you,
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you,
Deep peace of the watching shepherds to you,
Deep peace of the Son of Peace to you.

Hearts - J26

6x6" Acrylic on Canvas

This needs work and I'll probably paint over it but it's kind of sweet. I traced JB's hand on the canvas before I went to the workshop.

Hearts - Moon Hearts

Much like yesterdays post here is a study I did with the heart being the moon.

I had them all looking exactly the same with the heart moon moved in the one but Bob wanted me to make them more different. I didn't change much in them as you can see but I'm not really that in love with them so they'll probably all change.

Below is the 6 x 6" version.

And now 8 x 8" version.

12 x 12" version.

And finally the 24 x 24" version

And now all together.

Hearts - Black & White

Look at these four hearts that I painted at the Burridge Workshop this past August.

They look a lot alike, right? And they are.

Except the one below is 6 x 6 inches.

And the one below is 8 x 8 inches.

And this one is 12 x 12 inches.

And my favorite one is 24 x 24 inches.

I like this on best because I like the way it runs off the edge.

Here they are all photographed together.

Flying Hearts - Everything Love Finalized- Or not.

I have shown this painting before and I thought it was done but looking at the digital image now. I may add two people dancing in the background. Ayh! Here's what it looked like before.

Journal - If Love Won't Fly

This flying heart was painted back home in Euless. Life must have been busy because I skipped a whole month. I was trying to be conscious of the lighting but I don't think I was very successful at it. The words are part of the lyrics from Nanci Griffith's Outbound Plane that played while I was painting this heart.

There was a man in my past that we agreed that if either of us didn't want the relationship to continue we would just say, "I'm going to fly south" and that would be the end of it with no drama. I wish I could say it had been that easy but the drama and hurt feelings that occur in breakups was present.

I picture this heart flying south because the relationship just became too complicated and too hard and I had to fly on that outbound plane.

My love for House of Shine and the Yellow Envelope Project won't fly south because it's way too easy to shine! It only takes 10 minutes and 44 cents. Anyone can do it.

Flying Hearts - Dancing Under the Stars

This work is still in progress but I thought I would share two shots of it in the works.

One of my poems is collaged on it.

Flying Hearts - Everything

Not the best digital image and I was going to show you two but something went wrong with the sizing and frankly after a full day of work, cooking dinner, picking up boys from soccer, supervising homework, making up a batch of corn cake batter, fixing the garbage disposal (which was my proudest moment of the day) and now crafting a post for tomorrow- which was yesterday- is just all I can do. Oh! And I need to work on my National Postman Appreciation Day project for House of Shine where we decorate our mailboxes this Saturday!

Flying Heart - Follow Your Heart

Follow Your Heart
It Knows the Way

16 x 20" Acrylic on Canvas

On Sunday, March 5, 2011 I went to Painting with the Twist with my friend, Karlie for a fundraiser for her organization 30Walk. They were painting a lily but I opted to paint one of my flying hearts. It was fun to see how the teacher taught everyone to paint. And it was for a great cause.

The story of 30Walk is a powerful one and my friend Karlie is so sweet and generous. Take a moment on check it out.

Flying Hearts - amor vincit omnia

This 12 x 12 piece was a work in progress last week. Just needs a touch up on left side where the collaged strip was devoured by paint and then some varnish. This is one of my favorites.

Flying Hearts - Big Love

Updated March 2, 2011. You can't see as much of the gold. It's not so dark as the original photo suggests.

I know I don't have to apologize for this being a horrible digital photo of a so-so-maybe-not-finished piece but what's a working girl/single mom going to do? I didn't get it done but don't feel right about not making a post. I made a commitment after all.

I'll replace the image when I'm able to get a better one out in the sun.

Maybe I'll leave and update any progressions.

Painted at Bob Burridge Workshop in 2010.
